How to Change the Name of Your AirPods

Upon completion of pairing your AirPods with your device, your AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max will give you the default but personalized name of [Your Name]’s AirPods. But don’t worry you’re not stuck with it. You may be uncomfortable with it when you connect to another device or you simply want to customize it to easily identify your AirPods among a big crowd, or you just want to be creative. Yes, you could change the name of your AirPods.


How to Change AirPods Name on iPhone or iPad


This guide applies to AirPods 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max. Make sure you’re connected to your device.

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap Bluetooth.

  3. Tap on the i icon beside [Your Name]’s AirPods.

  4. Tap on Name.

  5. Rename to your liking through the onscreen keyboard and click Done once finished.

This should change the name of your AirPods. You can check by trying to connect to another device and seeing your AirPods listed as you customized them to be.


How to Change the Name of Your AirPods on your Mac


Make sure you’re connected to your Mac before proceeding. Here’s how to connect AirPods to Mac.

  1. Launch System Preferences.

  2. Click Bluetooth.

  3. Right-click on [Your Name]’s AirPods and choose Rename.

  4. Enter your desired name and click Rename to confirm.

You can verify if you’ve changed the name successfully by connecting to another Bluetooth device.
