Connecting your AirPods to an HP laptop is possible because connections are just made through Bluetooth so as long as your HP laptop has working Bluetooth, then it’s easy to pair these devices.
Make sure your AirPods are charged and ready.
Use the shortcut Windows Key + A to open the Action Center.
Right-click on Bluetooth.
Go to Settings.
Turn Bluetooth on.
Click on Add Bluetooth or other device.
Select Bluetooth.
Open the lid of your AirPods’ charging case. Make sure your AirPods are inside.
Press and hold the setup button at the rear of your charging case to activate pairing mode.
Release the button when your light flashes white and starts blinking.

This will disconnect and unpair your AirPods from your HP laptop.
