Apple users’ top choice, the AirPods not only connect with the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch but also connects with your Mac. It has the same features and functions when connected to your Mac. You can listen to music, answer calls or activate Siri.

How to Connect AirPods to Mac If AirPods Are Connected to iPhone


If you’ve already connected your AirPods with your iPhone which is signed in the same iCloud and has the same Apple ID, connecting to your Mac is quick and easy.


Simply open your AirPods case and click on Sound control which can be found in the menu bar of your Mac. Lastly, click on AirPods.


Alternatively, if the device seems ready to be used, just place your AirPods in your ears, click the Bluetooth menu and choose AirPods.

If you haven’t connected your AirPods to anything yet, the first step is to pair them with your Mac. Make sure that your Mac is also updated. If you’re using the AirPods 2nd generation, it requires that your Mac has macOS Mojave 10.14.4 or later. The AirPods Pro requires macOS Catalina 10.15.1 or later. The AirPods 3rd generation requires at least macOS Monterey or later.

  1. Open the lid of your charging case with your AirPods inside.

  2. Press and hold the setup button found at the back of your charging case until the status light flashes white.

    1. For AirPods Max, press and hold the noise control button.

  3. On your Mac, click on the Apple menu and click on System Preferences.

  4. Click on Bluetooth and select AirPods in the list.

  5. You may also set up Siri by clicking Enable. You may also improve Siri and dictation by clicking on either Share Audio Recordings which allows Apple to store the audio of your Siri interactions, or Not Now if you don’t want to share your audio recordings.


How to connect AirPods to Mac if AirPods is not in the devices list


If your Airpods don’t appear in the devices list, follow these steps so successfully pair your AirPods to your Mac.


  1. Click on the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.

  2. Click on Bluetooth and make sure your Bluetooth both in your AirPods and Mac are on.

  3. Put both AirPods in the charging case, close the lid for 15 seconds and open the lid of your charging case.

  4. Press and hold the setup button which can be found at the back of the case until the status light flashes white. This will take about 10 seconds.

  5. Your AirPods should now show in the Devices list. When it does, click on Connect.

Can You Connect Two AirPods To One Mac


The answer is Yes. In a MacBook Air, you can connect two sets of AirPods by following these steps:


  1. Check the Drift Correction box next to your 2nd pair of AirPods.

  2. Click on the Apple menu and click on System Preferences.

  3. Choose Sound and click on Multi-Output Device.

How to Connect Two Different AirPods to One Case


You might have lost one of your AirPods but a family member replaces it with theirs. Could you connect them? Yes, you could if they're the same model.

If you place both AirPods on their charging case, check the status light. If it flashes amber, simply reset your AirPods before pairing them again on your device.

Close the lid of your charging case for about 30 seconds > Press and hold the set-up button for about 10 seconds until the light turns white > open the lid of your charging case

Hold your device nearby and wait for the animation pop-up to appear. Follow the steps to pair your AirPods.

If your AirPods charging case doesn't give you a white light on the first attempt, try to charge the AirPods and AirPods case through a lightning cable first.
