Why are my AirPods blinking orange? Orange looks more alarming than the usual white flashing light that lets you connect your AirPods to your devices or the green light that lets you know that your AirPods are fully charged. Some of you may know that a steady orange or amber light (as Apple calls it) indicates that your AirPods or AirPods charging case isn’t fully charged. However, a flashing orange light means that there’s a connectivity issue that you need to solve. We will discuss here how to fix it.

How to Fix Your AirPods Flashing Orange Light

As mentioned, orange light can mean a battery problem or a connectivity issue. If it’s a connectivity issue, you may need to reset your AirPods but this means turning your AirPods to factory reset so you may want to check first if it’s simply a battery issue.

Charge your AirPods and Its Charging Case

When your battery life is red, your AirPods notifies you by giving you an orange light so we suggest you charge your AirPods to 100% first by placing it on its charging case. If your charging case is also at a low battery percentage too, charge your charging case wired or wireless through a Qi-certified mat. Avoid this orange light by knowing more about your AirPods battery life.

Reset and reconnect your AirPods

If it’s not a battery issue, it may be a connectivity issue. You may reset your AirPods and reconnect them to your device. Here’s how:

  1. Put your AirPods inside its charging case and close for 30 seconds.

  2. Open the lid of your charging case.

  3. On your device, go to settings and tap on Bluetooth.

  4. Tap More Info next to your AirPods or the i icon.

  5. Select Forget This Device and tap on Confirm.

  6. Open the lid of your charging case.

  7. Press and hold the setup button for about 15 seconds. The status light should flash amber then flash white. Your AirPods have been reset.

  8. To reconnect, go to Home Screen.

  9. Open the lid of your charging case with your AirPods inside. Also, make sure you hold your AirPods or AirPods Pro closely to your device.

  10. Tap connect on the setup window that will show up on your screen.

  11. Finish up the setup window.

  12. Tap Done.

Restart your connected device

The flashing orange light may also be a connectivity issue on the part of your device. Before restarting your device, make sure to exit all apps first. Restart your device and reconnect your AirPods.

Update AirPods

If the above fixes don’t work, you can check if there are any software updates online. If it’s the reason then your AirPods are outdated and need an upgrade.

Summary

Your AirPods lets you know if something is wrong just like when it gives you the orange light. But don’t worry, some fixes are easy to follow. Our recommendation is to charge your AirPods and the charging case first so you don’t jump into resetting your device back to factory settings. You may also opt to restart your paired device before you try and do a reset. In addition, although it doesn’t necessarily give you an orange light, it’s good practice to clean your AirPods to avoid damaging your gadget.
